Submit Applications for Community Fund

PRESS RELEASE

Applications for the Second $50,000 UNAA Chapter Development Program (CDP) Fund Now Open

For the third year, the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) is pleased to announce that it will award grants from the Chapter Development Program (CDP) Fund totaling $50,000 in the 2017- 2018 Fiscal Year.

The Chapter Development Program (CDP) Fund was created with proceeds from UNAA Sponsors, Partners, and well-wishers. These grants are geared towards those Local Ugandan North American Communities, Cultural Organizations, Associations (“UNAA Chapters and Affiliates”) whose missions, purpose and activities reflect those of UNAA.

GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON OCTOBER 15TH 2018.   Please direct all proposals and applications in electronic format to:  secretary@unaaonline.org

Background

A few years ago, the Community Outreach Initiative (COI) was launched and it has since grown into the largest community mobilization and outreach effort in UNAA’s history. This effort is greatly responsible for the huge success of the UNAA Dallas 2013, UNAA San Diego 2014 UNAA New Orleans 2015, UNAA Boston 2016, UNAA Miami 2017 and UNAA Seattle 2018 Conventions which registered historically high numbers. As you all know, there were some questions raised last year in regards to communities that received the grants. Due to those questions, a few changes have been instituted to minimize the abuse of the grant funds.

If a community received funds last year, please submit your accountability report to the Executive Secretary at secretary@unaaonline.org before applying for this year’s grant.

The Chapter Development Program

This is a purely voluntary effort designed to benefit only the Chapters and Affiliates which choose to participate. The funds ($50,000) will be shared between the Chapters and Affiliates using the criteria elaborated in the next section. Every Chapter and Affiliate will need to submit a new application every fiscal year. A successful application in one fiscal year does not automatically carry over to the following fiscal year.
